How far in advance should I book catering or private dining?
Most catering and private dining bookings at Jinbeh benefit from 1 to 4 weeks of lead time. For smaller catering orders (sushi platters, bento boxes for 10-30 guests), 3 to 7 days is often sufficient. For private dining in our Frisco or Lewisville dining rooms with custom menus, plan 2 to 4 weeks ahead. For peak dates, Mother's Day, Valentine's, graduation season (May/June), and December holiday parties, book 4 to 8 weeks out. For full restaurant buyouts or weddings, 8 to 12 weeks is realistic. Last-minute requests are sometimes accommodated based on staffing and kitchen capacity. Call early; we can almost always get back to you within a business day with options.
Lead time matters because the kitchen and front-of-house need to plan: protein orders, fish deliveries, staff scheduling, and table arrangement all have to align. Sushi platters require a day or two of notice for the sushi chefs to order the right quantity of fish; custom menus take longer to design and quote. Peak season (graduation, holidays, Mother's Day) is when lead times stretch the most because we are protecting capacity for regular reservations. If you have a specific date in mind, call as soon as you do; we can hold a tentative date while you finalize headcount. For weddings, rehearsal dinners, and 50+ guest events, work with us at least 2 months ahead.
