Is Jinbeh family-owned?
Yes, Jinbeh is a family-owned and independently operated Japanese restaurant, not a chain or franchise. Both Frisco and Lewisville have been family-owned and operated since the Matsuda family founded Jinbeh in 1988. Decisions about menu, hiring, sourcing, and hospitality are made by owners who are in the dining room, not by a corporate office in another state. This is a meaningful difference from national hibachi chains. Family ownership lets us keep long-tenured chefs, adjust menus seasonally, accommodate special requests, and maintain consistent quality across decades. When you celebrate a birthday or anniversary at Jinbeh, you are supporting an independent DFW small business.
The restaurant industry chews through ownership constantly, most independent restaurants close within five years. Jinbeh has survived for more than 35 years because the family ownership has stayed invested, hands-on, and responsive to the community. Many of our servers and hibachi chefs have been with us a decade or longer; that tenure is impossible at chains where labor turnover is built into the model. Family ownership also means we can support local schools, churches, soccer teams, and charity events without asking permission from a regional manager. If you have ever donated a gift card to a school auction in Frisco or Lewisville, there is a good chance Jinbeh contributed to it.
